CBCT is a multimodality imaging tool. CBCT imagining is commonly used for Orthognathic Surgery, Orthodontics, Implant placement, Obstructive Sleep Apnea, Endodontics, Third Molar Surgery and Impactions. Mr. Peck recently completed a CBCT dose study with Dr. John Ludlow University of North Carolina Charlotte. This study clearly illustrates the advantages and disadvantages as well as the effects to image quality from low dose scanning. When ordering or taking a CBCT it is very important for the clinician and technician to develop an understanding of when to utilize high and low dose scans. The ability to visualize the actual placement of an implant or the position of the roots after orthodontics is invaluable. Initial high resolution and post treatment low dose CBCT scans provide the clinician with this important information. Mr. Peck recently completed a twelve patient pre and post op implant study which compared free handed surgery to guided surgery. Diagnosis of Obstructive Sleep Apnea is one of the fastest growing areas in dentistry. Mr. Peck completed study of over thirty patients with Nelson Powell, MD, DDS. The study compared the size of airway in the supine and sitting positions, with and without (CPAP) continuous positive airway pressure devices. The affordability of 3D Camera has arrived in dentistry. A 3D image can now be merged with a CBCT and used for virtual smile design, orthognathic projections, and orthodontic treatment planning. As patient acceptance of dental implants continues to grow, so does demand. Placing dental implants is a rapidly growing revenue source for dental practitioners and appropriate case planning is key to successful outcomes. As a result, the use of cone beam computerized tomography (CBCT) and surgical guides is becoming a standard of care.

Jerry received his radiographic training at the University of the Pacific School of Dentistry from 1972-1974. He was certified as a dental laboratory X-ray technologist (DLXT) in 1976 by UC Berkeley. As a pioneer in the use of CBCT and 3D case planning software, Mr. Peck is often sought out to offer expert advice on the use of 3D imaging for implant case planning and guided surgery. He lectures nationally and internationally on airway analysis, radiation dosage and the application of CBCT and intraoral 3D scanning for implant case planning and guided surgery - from patient diagnosis to final prosthesis. He is the owner of C-Dental X-Ray, McCormack Dental Imaging, and Administrator of the AADMRT Online School and Past President of the American Association of Maxillofacial Radiographic Technicians.
