Every day seems to bring new challenges, new information, new direction. With all these changes, it can be difficult to keep track of what’s going on.

What do we know?

SBA loans are available, and we strongly encourage everyone who can, to apply for one. The Bay Area has a shelter-in-place directive until May 3rd, but it is unclear whether this will be the date we can get back and open our practices again, or if it will be extended. Regardless, it is better to apply for the loan and repay it if you don’t need it, instead of waiting until you need it, and possibly waiting for longer than expected due to high-volume of applicants. As always, consult your CPA if you have questions.

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): The dental profession has a higher-than-average occupational risk of contracting Covid-19. While it is true that most infections occur through respiratory droplets (hand-to-mouth), Covid-19 does have the ability to travel via aerosols. And every day, practically every procedure that we perform, create these high-viral load aerosols whether they’re with high-speed handpieces or ultrasonic units during hygiene. To keep you safe, the current recommendations are:

N95 masks
Face Shield
Disposable gowns
Surgical Cap
Eye-protection (loupes)
